We haven’t talked about Kanzashi in a while, so I thought I’d share some pretty things that have been showing up in the Kanzashi in Bloom Flickr pool. I always love seeing people take the basic process in my book and add their own tweaks.
…Like up above there. Deborah Kaye made some tiny Round Petals from sheer fabric and then placed them in the centers of larger petals. What a cool layered effect!
I have a simple stemmed flower project in the book, but BitsaMerth totally did me one better and created this stacked flower. What a lovely touch, to curve the petals upward! (And that pointed petal looks like it was made with the Clover Kanzashi Maker.)
Myriam Kemper‘s use of linen and print fabric together, combined with a matching covered button center, is really modern and pretty.
Since Kanzashi petals are strung on a thread, there’s no reason you can’t insert other things on the same thread, like these printed ribbon loops. A splendid idea by Luckystarlane.
Fearielfire has a pretty butterfly variation using the Round Petals.
This jewelry piece by Gail Made really knocks me out – especially using the rolled fabric as matching beads.
…And finally, I love this cheery little key fob by Wendy Martin.

What interesting timing, I just recently got a nice photo of my sweet little grandbaby wearing a Kanzashi flower headband I made using the Clover flower-maker (and inspired by all the great ideas in your book!) I posted it on my FB the other day and it is also in my newsletter which goes out this week. I love making these flowers …and I am SO inspired by the big bouquet shown here – I think I am going to start making one sorta like that but from wild and funky prints and polkadot fabrics! I love that this craft is so portable, I have a little zippered case that I grab when I am going somewhere where I expect to have to wait, and wow! in the time that it takes to read a couple of old, 2009 People magazine articles I can have a flower done! ;-)
