If you’re a crafter, then I’m pretty sure you keep a supply stash of some kind. Some of us, ahem, keep several stashes. I stash fabric, yarn, papers, and um… plastic canvas shapes. But what are the best ways to manage a stash? How do you keep it organized enough to find things, and how do you keep tabs on what, exactly, you have on hand?

My guest for this show keeps a large fabric stash, and she keeps it well. Jeni Baker is a quilter, sewist, and blogger. I first started reading her blog with this excellent post series, which is all about maintaining a well-rounded an organized stash. Jeni has a lot of great ideas on stash-keeping, and there are good ideas in this interview for crafters in any medium.

• Check out Jeni’s blog, In Color Order, and especially The Art of Choosing post series – excellent reading on stash-keeping.

• Jeni mentioned this StashPact project on Flickr, designed to help participants use more stashed fabrics and buy less.

• Jeni also mentioned using mini bolts to organize fabrics, and you can see that in action over at Smashed Peas and Carrots.
