In this episode, we’re meeting Tsia Carson and her daughter Cedar. Tsia’s new book, Side by Side: 20 Collaborative Projects for Crafting with Your Kids, is one of the coolest books I’ve seen on this subject.
I love that the projects aren’t just cute objects for kids to make; they’re creative processes you can do with your kid, or alongside them. And I love the fact that the book is beautifully photographed, with Tsia and Cedar (and friends) appearing in the shots. The visual styling here will appeal to grown-ups, and the projects will appeal to kids.
The projects themselves are things that would appeal to a wide age-range as well: easy stamping and stitching for younger children, and slightly more challenging sewing, garden, and yarn projects for kids a bit older.

Diane,
Really loving this new series of book videos! The videos with the authors combined with the photos make an outstanding combination! Keep up the great work!
Big hugs,
Arielle
That makes my day, Arielle! Thank you so much!
I love this! This is a series? Where have I been?? Out to lunch, I guess.
Tsia, I could not love this statement more, “Actually hanging out with your kid and having that be a lot of fun.” I’ve sadly felt this is lacking in a lot of people and I don’t really get why.
I love this video and can’ wait to check out the book!!
Thanks, Elizabeth! I guess it’s a series now. :-) I do have more planned in future!
I like these relatively short author interview videos, with the images from the book interspersed. We get a little behind the scenes, a little taste of the content, and a lot of relationship with the author. Just the right mix. I’m wondering if some stats at the end of your written blog post just listing the title, author, publisher, page count, and price with a direct link to where to buy might be a nice wrap-up?
That’s a super-great idea, Abby! Thank you!
