We have another wonderful kid-oriented book this time – but this is much more than a craft book. Show Me a Story: 40 Craft Projects and Activities to Spark Children’s Storytelling is a collection of activities to share with kids both young and older. Emily K. Neuburger is interested in the intersection of art and writing, and she believes deeply in the developmental power of story.
Using simple craft materials most of us have lying around the house, this book opens up an amazing breadth of possibilities for story-based play – through writing, through drawing and painting, going outside, playing games, creating imaginary characters, acting out narrative, and on and on. It’s beautifully art-directed as well, with extremely accessible project instructions. A parent doesn’t have to be crafty to do most of these projects with their kids.
