I first met John Murphy back in 2003, when we did a podcast about his first book, Stupid Sock Creatures: Making Quirky, Lovable Figures from Cast-off Socks.
That book spawned a lot more publishing for John, and now he’s back with a sequel to the original, called Return of the Stupid Sock Creatures: Evolutions, Mutations, and Other Creations. In this book, he invited some of his longtime readers to reinterpret his original Stupid Creatures concept. He was curious to see what his ideas could become if they were passed through other minds and hands.
I love what John has to say about sharing creativity in this video. And you’ll fall in love with the sock creatures we share here. Everybody does.
(Disclosure time: I was sent a review copy of this book. The title links above are affiliate links.)

So neat that you were able to interview the author a second time, years apart, and use a new interviewing format! What fun! Thanks for continuing this series – I look forward to learning more about new crafty books and their authors!
Thank you so much, Arielle! I’m so happy to hear that you’re enjoying the videos. It really was cool to get to reconnect with John. Crazy that the first time was six years ago!!
