A Sabbatical, of Sorts

burnt out

OK, so. I don't want to make a big deal out of this or anything, but I am completely burned out. I've been this way since early Fall, but tried to fight through it.

Only, as I've learned, you can't fight burnout – it just gets worse. So at this point, I have no option but to start taking as many things off my To-Do list as possible so I can get some rest and recover. This blog is going to be one of those things.

I still have one more Image-Only Interview for you next week, and of course there are two more podcasts coming this year. (A video or two may also sneak in.) But other than that, I'm not going to be around here for a while. You can watch my Twitter and Facebook feeds for occasional links and updates, if you cannot live without knowing what I'm doing. :-)

Enjoy your holidays!

Hey Diane, I'll be part of a webinar in January, (I think it's free, I need to find out) and one of the things I'll be talking about is how to avoid and reverse burnout... so if you aren't too burned out to listen, I might have a couple ideas for ya'! ;-)

Girl, I'll be all ears! :-)

Relax, refresh, revive... ENJOY your time offline, Diane! With changes in the works, and the holidays coming soon, I'm looking forward to some downtime myself. ;o) Wishing you & yours days merry & bright and JOY in the New Year! Thank you for all you offer here! ((HUGS))

:-) I may have to get a tattoo of this sentence: "I hope that the skill of saying no regularly becomes more and more obviously a key part of your personal skill set. "

AMEN! Thanks for your comment, Mary!

Let me just echo what everyone above said. All things creative require breaks. Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year if we don't see you till after!

I applaud you for self awareness and for deciding to take time for yourself. You absoultley deserve to restore and rejuvenate. We will be eagerly awaiting your return whenever you decide that is. Have a wonderful December.

Thank you, Dorothy. I'm sure a rest will be just the ticket. And maybe, learning to say no once in a while. :-)

And to you! Your "Yay!!" cracked me up. :-)

You go girl... rest up :) I basically did that for the last month (with no notice or anything, see you're better than me), and I feel better already ...

Ah, I'm glad you got some rest. You do way more than me!

Hope that some time away is just the ticket to help you through the burn out. Sending you love and restful thoughts, my dear friend!

Take care of what matters most -- yourself!

Well deserved break! Can't thank you enough for the wonderful Podcasts. Renew, recharge, rediscover and enjoy some time off. You are so appreciated!

resting is as needed and beneficial as working, like yin and yang. good on you for knowing when you're out of balance!

Well Finally!!!! You really, really need this time my sweet daughter and i am so happy to hear this good news. I don't think it is only your body that is speaking to you - I am pretty certain it is also the universe. And you need the time out to listen. And just look at all the support here for your decision!!!

xoxoxoxoxoxoxo to be delivered in person next week!

Feel Better, Diane!
We'll still be here when you are ready!

Rest well & Thank you for all you do!
Everything you do is appreciated so much, I should comment & say it more often!

Don't worry about replying to the comment then that's not a holiday, but just wanted to echo the well wishes :)

Everyone needs a holiday! Enjoy

Wow, sorry to hear you've been feeling this way, Diane. But, as everyone has said, it happens, and you just have to listen to your body and give it the rest it deserves. I know I took the whole month of August off and it was magical. So yeah, good for you! DO IT!

Cyber-hugs to you!

Rest up, Dianne!

Will do - thanks, Rachel! :-)

Be well!

I am so in favor of taking blog breaks! Go and do stuff that makes you happy. Go and recharge! Hope you have a wonderfully stress-reduced December and get as much just-for-yourself-time as possible.

Thank you, Michelle! I'm definitely planning to focus on the happy for a while. :-)

I can relate, I struggled with burnout earlier this year. I took a break and came out of it with a lot of new ideas. I turned out to be a good time for me to re evaluate some things.

Oh, that's great news, Daphne! I do need to get better at accepting these impulses when they crop up, instead of going into four-alarm denial. :-/ I'm glad your rest break brought you some fresh insights!

Thank you so much, Maryline!

Aw, thank you so much, Carmen! Heh! I hope the world will indeed watch out. :-)

Take as long as you need til you're feeling energetic again - we'll be here :)

Relax and reenergize, Diane! I have found that when I take time off and just play and catch up on those naggy personal little to do things that always seem to pile up that I come back with so many more ideas and renewed enthusiasm. So enjoy your "You Time"! I know that CraftyPod will be even more amazing in 2013 then watch out world!! :) A big Happy Holiday hug to you, Diane!!!

Take your time, take time for you. We'll patiently wait for you to return, because we know you'll just have even more good ideas and great writings for us! Best wishes!

So, I almost started with "Yay!!" but that seemed off. ;) But really, I know how this feels and I am so glad you are finally taking the break you deserved. Honestly, I kept expecting it, and right before the holidays is perfect time to step back and soak in and heal. Much love to you my friend. xoxo

Frankly, I don't know how you do what you do without taking a break! I hope you come back rested, relaxed and ready to take on the world.

You deserve a break!!

Congratulations on deciding to organise what you need for yourself. Best wishes for your sabbatical. I hope that it is restful, nourishing and full of pleasures. I hope that the skill of saying no regularly becomes more and more obviously a key part of your personal skill set. Take it easy, for a change!

Good for you Diane. We'll be here whenever you you're ready to get back at it!

Relax and enjoy, Diane - everyone deserves a vacation. Go play! Your blog will be here when you get back and so will we. :)

Everyone needs time out Diane, you put your feet up and enjoy a well earned rest. I do it from time to time and its much better than trying to fight the fatigue. Do stuff that makes you happy and you'll feel great in no time at all.

Hope you enjoy your Diane-time.
See you later :o)

I hope you get all the rest you need and have a great December.

Take care of yourself. Burnout is no good at all - I know and I also know that you can get through it. Rest, reflect, renew ...

Take some time off, Diane. :-) We're always not very far and we'll be here when you come back.

Have some happy & jolly holidays! Ho Ho Ho! :-D (And take some time to listen to "Christmas Vacation" at -least- once. ;-) )

I'd say it will be a well-earned break! You've been through a lot of changes since I've started stopping by here a couple of years ago. Enjoy the time off!

And thanks for letting us know ahead of time, instead of just stopping.
