I didn’t want to let this week elapse without sharing this amazing TED talk (which quite a few of you have also sent me links to). Musician Amanda Palmer speaks beautifully about the power of asking for things – which, given recent discussion here, went straight to my heart.
I love Amanda’s take on generousity and reciprocal giving – so hopeful and inspiring. I took away many important ideas from this talk – my favorite of which is: Don’t be afraid to be vulnerable. We can see each other more clearly in our vulnerabilities.

Kim wrote a great post about this video, which you might want to read.
…And with that, I hope you have a splendid, creative weekend!

Great talk, in the same vein as the article she had written a few years ago (“Why I’m not afraid to take your money”, or something like that). That picture of her crowd surfing? It’s been on my inspiration board for more than a year, all the other pictures changed, but not this one. :)
I just deleted my comment on your Facebook page because I had written that a friend of mine just sent me the link to this video and I thought you would like it because of your recent posts about re-calculating/ sustainability.
I didn´t know that you had written a blog post about it earlier today and I felt slightly embarrassed that I hadn´t noticed that when I posted my comment on your FB page – it clearly shows how much time I spend behind my sewing machine and how little time I spend online ;-)
Thank you for sharing, Diane!
I totally vote for you being behind that sewing machine, Julianne! :-) No worries at all – I do believe that links to this video are being shared all over the place by us creatives right now. Thank you for thinking to share it with me!
I haven’t watched this yet – but I’m reminded of an interview I watched recently on the Good Life Project with Brene Brown. It’s so true. There’s so much to be gained from being honest with yourself and others. I found her very inspiring from a personal and professional perspective.
Thanks for sharing this, Diane, it really resonates with me.
